Guest Artists
John Warren (Director, Documentary Theatre) is the Founding Director of Unconditional Theatre and he is a freelance teacher, director and playwright focused on creating community Based-documentary theatre. He has created such plays as Voices of Activism: Crawford, Swing State Stories, Women On Death Row, and The Flag Project: A Response to 9-11. Working with Tamalpais High School students, he has developed documentary plays on such topics as gay marriage, social protest and the American Taliban story that transferred to community performances at the Marin Theatre Company.

Recent collaborations include the Soapstone Theater (developing personal narratives with former perpetrators and survivors of violence) and San Francisco Circus School (crafting interview-based characters with clown conservatory students). He has facilitated workshops on documentary theatre for Stanford University, Fringe Benefits and the SF Theatre for Social Chage Conference. Additional teaching credits include the SF State University, SF Shakespeare Festival, New Conservatory Theatre at ACT, and Berkeley High School. He studied theatre at Brown University.
