Heather Basarab (Technical Director/Production Manager and Facilities, Design and Stagecraft Instructor) is proud of an eclectic career in the performing arts, with job descriptions ranging from performer and acrobat to company manager, production manager,  and designer the disciplines of dance, circus, theater, performance art and industrial production. She has served as Production Manager for the Joe Goode Performance Group (1999-2006), Thick Description (1996-1999), where she oversaw and coordinated the construction of the Thick House theater; Joe Kreiter’s Flyaway Productions, and Make A Circus (1994-1998), a touring community service circus organization. She has stage managed for various Bay Area theaters including the Magic Theatre, Teatro Zanzinni, and the New Pickle Circus; she has toured as a lighting director for the STOMP Company and the Loa Angeles-based Fearless Hair Productions. Her Bay Area design resume (Lighting and Scenic) includes work with the Magic Theatre, Crowded Fire, Campo Santo, Asian American Theater Company, A Traveling Jewish Theater, The New Pickle Circus, Shotgun Players, Project Bandaloop, and the Joe Goode Performance Group.

Ms. Basarab is the recipient of an Isadora Duncan Award for Production Design (Joe Good Performance Group, Drowsy) and a Bay Guardian Upstage Downstage Award for Lighting Design (Signal Theater, Tongue of a Bird). Teaching experience includes lecturing on Stage Management, Scenic Design, Lighting Design and Stagecraft at SSU and working with at-risk youth through the Make A Circus program. Ms. Basarab holds a BA in Theater from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, and completed an apprenticeship in Theater Design with Danila Korogodsky of the Moscow Arts. Theater.
