Amy Stock (Brecht, Theatre History, Costume Design) graduated with a BA from UCLA’s undergraduate program in theatre, film and television. While there, she co-created Kadmus Theatre Studio and worked as an actor for ten years in that company, traveling around the world. This work brought Amy to Bennington, Vermont where her company was in residence, teaching acting workshops to the Bennington college students and working with them in performance. Additionally, Amy helped to bring guest artists to work with students there such as Jerzy Grotowski (1996), the Paris-based Academie Experimentale des Theatres (1998) and the Polish director of Gardzienice Theatre, Vlodzimier Staniewski several times.
When she returned home to the Bay Area, Amy began teaching her own performance workshops guided by the principles and experiences she had in the US and abroad. Her teaching experience from these workshops and the performances that stemmed from them were the impetus to return to school for her Master’s degree in drama at SF State (2005). Presently, she is an instructor of costume and fashion design at the Art Institute, a mother of a beautiful and talented 3 year-old and is a freelance Dramaturg.
