CTE Alumni News

As if CTE didn’t have enough to celebrate, there’s more good news. Several CTE alumni  have recently been honored in various ways that we are proud to acknowledge:

  • Quintin Gordon (1996) is finishing up his BFA in Directing from North Carolina School for the Arts but has just learned that he has been awarded the Lincoln Center’s Institute William R. Kenan, Jr. Performing Arts Fellowship that seeks to provide emerging artists with knowledge of aesthetic education that will prepare them for work as artists in the field of arts and education. Each fellow is mentored by an LCI teaching artist in their discipline. Mentors support and assist their fellows with practical knowledge and experience as they embark on their careers. As well, mentors introduce fellows to a network of professional artists in New York City. Additionally, the Fellowship supports time to pursue artistic studies, performances, and further development of networking in their professional fields. Fellows are also encouraged to apply to produce and develop their own performance project. Quintin will be moving to New York after he graduates in May.

  • Amanda Rowan (1997) has produced her first short film that has been accepted at a number of Film Festivals around the U.S. Amanda stars in the film entitled She Pedals Fast For A Girl and she also wrote the screenplay and raised all the money herself.

The Sonoma Film Festival, Buffalo Film Fest, Niagra Falls Film Fest, Washington Film Festival, and the Long Beach Film Festival have all chosen the film with Sundance, Telluride and MV Film Festival yet to notify.  She is living in Los Angeles where she is a freelance photographer and pursuing her acting career.

  • Other news: Gus Heagerty (2006) is also at North Carolina School for the Arts and has been invited  into the Directing Track there that Quintin is just completing. Ben Snyder (1998), who is already an established playwright, has been invited to University of Texas to complete his Master’s Degree and to teach in their department. Ben will also be receiving a stipend and living expenses during his tenure.
